DayAnchor Privacy Policy

DayAnchor is a local-first reminder and routine app designed to work without an account, without cloud sync, and without requiring users to upload their task data to a DayAnchor server.

Effective Date: 04 May 2026

1. Who We Are

DayAnchor is developed by David Simpson. This Privacy Policy explains how DayAnchor handles information when you use the Android app.

DayAnchor is built around a privacy-first, local-first model. The app does not require you to create an account, sign in, or send your task data to a DayAnchor server.

2. Information Stored On Your Device

DayAnchor stores app information locally on your device so the app can provide reminders, routines, proof records, privacy controls, and offline access.

Local information may include:

  • Tasks, routines, reminders, categories, priorities, and schedules.
  • Task notes and user-entered task details.
  • Completion history, missed-task history, streaks, reliability information, and reward progress.
  • Proof records, including manual confirmation records, photo proof records, QR code proof records, barcode proof records, and NFC proof records where used.
  • App settings, reminder settings, notification settings, proof settings, privacy settings, accessibility preferences, and local app lock settings.
  • Local monetisation state, including trial status, free mode status, premium status, ad visibility state, and whether ads have been hidden for the day.

This information is stored locally on your device. DayAnchor does not automatically upload your tasks, task notes, proof records, or task history to a DayAnchor server.

3. Camera Access

DayAnchor may request camera access when you choose to use proof-based task completion features.

Camera access may be used for:

  • Photo proof.
  • QR code proof.
  • Barcode proof.

Camera access is only used when you choose to capture or scan proof. DayAnchor does not use the camera in the background.

4. Proof Records

Proof records are used to help confirm that a task was completed. Depending on the proof method selected, a proof record may include a completion timestamp, proof type, local task reference, photo proof metadata, QR code scan value, barcode scan value, or NFC tag value.

Proof records are stored locally on your device. DayAnchor does not automatically upload proof photos, QR scans, barcode scans, NFC records, or task history to a DayAnchor server.

5. NFC Access

If NFC proof is enabled and supported on your device, DayAnchor may use your device’s NFC capability to read compatible NFC tags for task completion proof.

NFC is only used for proof features chosen by the user. DayAnchor does not use NFC for background tracking or location tracking.

6. Notifications, Reminders, And Alarms

DayAnchor uses local notifications, reminders, scheduling, and alarm-style escalation features to remind you about tasks and routines. Notification content may include task titles, reminder times, and task-related information depending on your privacy settings.

If sensitive notification hiding or private task mode is enabled, DayAnchor may show more general notification text instead of task details.

7. Advertising

DayAnchor may show ads to users who have not purchased Premium. Ads may be provided by Google AdMob.

Google AdMob may process information such as device information, advertising identifiers, IP address, diagnostics, app interactions, and ad interaction data to provide, measure, personalise, secure, and improve ads, depending on your device settings, Google settings, consent status, and applicable law.

Users may choose to watch a rewarded ad to hide ads temporarily. Users who purchase DayAnchor Premium do not see ads in DayAnchor.

You can learn more about how Google uses data from apps that use its services at Google’s partner sites policy.

8. Purchases

DayAnchor Premium purchases are handled through Google Play Billing. DayAnchor does not directly collect or store your payment card details.

Google Play may process purchase information, payment status, transaction identifiers, and other information required to complete and manage purchases, refunds, fraud prevention, and billing support.

9. Biometric And Device Lock

DayAnchor may allow users to protect access to the app using Android biometric or device credential features, such as fingerprint, face unlock where supported, device PIN, pattern, or password.

Biometric and device credential verification is handled by Android. DayAnchor does not receive or store your fingerprint, face data, device PIN, pattern, or Android device password.

10. Data Export

If DayAnchor export features are used, exported files are created only when requested by the user. Exported files may contain task history or other app information depending on the export feature used.

Once you export or share a file outside DayAnchor, you are responsible for how that exported file is stored, shared, or deleted.

11. Data Deletion

DayAnchor provides ways to delete local app data.

You can delete local DayAnchor data inside the app:

  • Open DayAnchor.
  • Go to Privacy & Accessibility.
  • Select Delete Local Data.

You can also delete local DayAnchor data through Android system settings:

  • Open Android Settings.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Select DayAnchor.
  • Open Storage.
  • Choose Clear Data or the equivalent option on your device.

Deleting local app data removes locally stored tasks, history, proof records, app settings, privacy settings, and local app state from that device. Purchases handled by Google Play may remain associated with your Google account and can be restored where supported.

12. Third-Party Services

DayAnchor may use the following third-party services:

  • Google Play Billing for in-app purchases and Premium unlocks.
  • Google AdMob for advertising and rewarded ads.
  • Google Play services where required for app functionality, billing, ads, review prompts, and Android platform integrations.

These third-party services may process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

13. Children

DayAnchor is not designed specifically for children and is not targeted at children. The app is intended for adults who want help managing routines, reminders, and task completion.

14. Security

DayAnchor is designed to keep user task data local to the device. Where third-party services such as Google Play Billing or Google AdMob transmit data, those services use secure network connections.

No app can guarantee absolute security. You should keep your device protected with a secure lock method and avoid exporting or sharing sensitive task/proof data unless you are comfortable doing so.

15. Changes To This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect app changes, legal requirements, Google Play requirements, or service updates.

When changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
